Reviews:

''Fragile Future'' is the third full-length studio album by Hawthorne Heights. It was their final album released through Victory Records and was their first album to not feature guitarist and unclean vocalist Casey Calvert, due to his death in November 2007. The album features 12 tracks (excluding bonus tracks). The album was to be released earlier in 2008, but due to an incident with Victory Records, it was postponed. Victory and Hawthorne Heights solved their problems quickly, and the album was released August 5, 2008.

The album debuted at #23 on the Billboard 200. - Wikipedia

The title speaks volumes. In early 2006, Victory Records encouraged fans to hide Ne-Yo CDs in stores to vault Hawthorne's If Only You Were Lonely to a #1 Billboard debut. The band understandably took umbrage with the label's approach, voiced a battery of additional grievances and split. Despite that trainwreck, Hawthorne are not only back on Victory (wha?), but their new record may come out the same day as Ne-Yo's latest (double wha?). All this and they have the death of guitarist Casey Calvert to overcome. Good luck putting this drama behind and getting us to concentrate on the music. That's a shame, because Hawthorne do sing-along pop-punk as well as anyone, often conjuring the surprisingly out-of-style Yellowcard in their expert harmonies. "Rescue Me" may not be the theme to the popular Denis Leary series, but it's just as urgent, and hopefully a harbinger of things to come in this band's very fragile future. [Ed Note: Hawthorne and Ne-Yo's release date's are now separated by three weeks.]
