The White Buffalo is Jake Smith: singer, song-writer, guitarist, teller of stories; an artist whose voice – an emotive timber-shakin’ baritone – seems directly linked to a greater truth; an artist who will not be swayed by fashion or restricted by genre. And now, The White Buffalo releases the new studio album, ‘On The Widow’s Walk’ – an 11 song, loosely linked collection of dark thrills produced by Shooter Jennings, who also plays piano and keys. Standard black vinyl.
If there’s one lesson to be gleaned from Jamie Wyatts latest album, Neon Cross, it’s that life goes on. And through it all—good times and bad, dreaming and desperation, there is truth. When it came to capturing that truth on tape, Wyatt had some assistance from Shooter Jennings, who produced Neon Cross. Together, she and Jennings boldly color outside the country lines, taking a wide-lens sonic and stylistic approach to the songs on Neon Cross.
Multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter Kip Moore’s highly anticipated fourth studio album WILD WORLD will be available May 29. The weathered heartland-rock sound Moore has embraced pumps up its emotional volume, recorded live with a full band. CD includes free poster offer, valid thru 12/31/20.

Merritt explains his thinking behind the Quickies concept: “I’ve been reading a lot of very short fiction, and I enjoyed writing 101 Two-Letter Words, the poetry book about the shortest words you can use in Scrabble. And I’ve been listening to a lot of French baroque harpsichord music. Harpsichord doesn’t lend itself to languor. So I’ve been thinking about one instrument at a time, playing for about a minute or so and then stopping, and I’ve been thinking of narratives that are only a few lines long.
Produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst, First Aid Kit) I’ll Get By, Avi Kaplan’s new 7-track EP firmly establishes the renowned bass vocalist as a generational songwriting talent in the mold of inspirations such as Fleet Foxes, Hozier and Iron and Wine. I’ll Get By is an absorbing introduction to an artist with a timeless voice, an independent spirit and a limitless future. Indie exclusive LP pressed on black ice-colored vinyl.
After The Rainbow Children release and before the release of the One Nite Alone… studio album, Prince embarked on a tour of the same name. However, as opposed to the intimacy of the largely solo One Nite Alone… album, this upbeat trek through theaters in North America featured the full talents of Prince’s ever-expanding New Power Generation band. Members at the time included drummer John Blackwell, keyboardist Renato Neto and longtime collaborators like bassist Rhonda Smith and a horn section that included saxophonists Eric Leeds, Candy Dulfer and Maceo Parker. Taken from the highlights of 9 different shows in March and April of 2002 and clocking in at over 2 hours, the resulting 4 LP collection One Nite Alone…Live! was the first official live album of Prince’s career and the 27 tracks included feature selections from The Rainbow Children as well as Prince’s extensive back catalog, played with the full NPG as well as several solo piano excursions (“When U Were Mine,” “Raspberry Beret,” “Adore,” “The Beautiful Ones,” “Nothing Compares 2 U”). This release marks the first time that it’s available on vinyl.

As the world greeted the promise of a new millennium, even Prince was experiencing a great sense of transformation. In 2000, he announced the reclamation of his birth name after seven years as an unpronounceable symbol. In 2001, after a period of study and debate with his friend and mentor Larry Graham (former bassist for Sly and The Family Stone), Prince converted to the Jehovah’s Witness faith. These transformations bore fruit with the release of The Rainbow Children at the end of 2001. Billed as “controversial” in its press materials for its open spiritual message, the jazz-inspired record was Prince’s first fully independent release, issued without any major label backing. One of its songs, “The Work, Pt. 1,” was released by Prince as a free download on the file-sharing service Napster; this move, along with direct-to-consumer stream and download options on the NPG Music Club, made Prince a digital music visionary. The Rainbow Children is a continued favorite among Prince’s most fervent admirers due to its complex musical narrative, its use of live drums and a full horn section, and the striking album art by artist Cbabi Bayoc, which still hangs in the hallowed halls of Paisley Park today. The CD has long been out of print and the original vinyl was incredibly limited and copies fetch hundreds of dollars. This new double LP vinyl edition comes on limited edition crystal clear vinyl packaged in gatefold packaging along with an exclusive Prince rainbow slipmat.
Prince would follow The Rainbow Children with the stunning One Nite Alone… in May 2002. Featuring almost nothing but Prince’s acoustic piano and vocals (save for occasional rhythm from drummer John Blackwell and the ambient cooing of Divinity and Majesty, Prince’s pet doves), this intimate album offers favorites like “U’re Gonna C Me” and a cover of “A Case Of U,” written by one of Prince’s idols, Joni Mitchell. The original album never had a wide physical release as the CD was an exclusive to Prince’s NPG Music Club members and this marks it’s first time on vinyl.
Hinds are a four-piece garage-pop band based in Madrid, Spain consisting of Carlotta Cosials (vocals, guitar), Ana Perrote (vocals, guitar), Ade Martin (bass, backing vocals) and Amber Grimbergen (drums). Hinds' breakout debut Leave Me Alone was an album of party anthems drenched in metaphors. With their forthcoming sophomore record, I Don't Run, it's time to cut straight to the chase. Some might expect them to write songs about being happy, young and carefree -- "but we're not satisfied with that," explains guitarist Ana Perrote. "On this album the struggles are clear. We want to be brave." I Don't Run is Hinds' return, off of their next album The Prettiest Curse out April 3rd, with an honest reflection on a period that changed their lives beyond their wildest imaginations. Since 2014, the band has been on a globe-trotting run. They've never professed to being error-free, and they're all the more brazen for it having survived everything that's been thrown at them: world tours, sold-out crowds, harsh criticism, sexism, and all that lies in-between. Hinds have become better musicians, tighter friends and tougher characters.
The buzz around CHRISTIAN LEE HUTSON started in earnest in 2018 after he began his collaborative friendship with singer Phoebe Bridgers. Hutson co-wrote songs with Bridgers for both the EP of supergroup boygenius (ft. Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus) and her 2019 release with Conor Oberst, Better Oblivion Community Center. The emerging folk artist received further critical attention after Bridgers invited him to Eaux Claires Festival last July, where he performed a solo set and earned praise from festival host Bon Iver. Eventually, Bridgers asked if she could produce an album for him. Engineered and mixed by Joseph Lorge (Blake Mills, Perfume Genius), the forthcoming release also features contributions from Bright Eyes pianist Nathaniel Walcott. To merely call Christian Lee Hutson an old soul would be to deny the vibrancy of his sound. Hutson writes songs that the SF Bay Guardian describes as, "... Foreboding, bluesy love ballads laden with longing nostalgia." Hutson is an avid touring artist and his touring will take him to Austin this Spring for SXSW. For Fans of Phoebe Bridgers, Elliott Smith and Bright Eyes.

For years, Singer/Songwriter Trixie Mattel has broken boundaries not only for drag performers in the music world but also for LGBTQ+ artists in the genres of country, folk and Americana. ‘Barbara’ is laid out to reflect a vintage double-sided album. Side A features a plugged-in late 60s/early 70s vibe. Side B hearkens back to the introspective folk that took Trixie to the top of Billboard Heatseekers and iTunes genre charts. Ambrose Akinmusire follows his acclaimed, genre-busting 2018 manifesto, Origami Harvest, with another visionary statement on his new album `on the tender spot of every calloused moment'. The trumpeter examines blackness on an uncompromising set of modern jazz laced with a heavy blues feeling. The album presents 11 new compositions by Akinmusire, featuring his quartet - pianist Sam Harris, bassist Harish Raghavan, drummer Justin Brown - with guest vocals from Genevieve Artadi and Jesus Diaz.
Vinyl LP pressing. 2020 release. The Ghost Inside is a Los Angeles-based hardcore band. They began as a group of friends in El Segundo, CA united by their shared passion for bands in the hardcore scene. The group stands for authenticity, dedication, perseverance and the most literal adherence to the core values behind their craft. Sonically, the group places equal emphasis on deeply personal vocals, urgent riffing and pile-driving breakdowns within the framework of their heavily melodic modern hardcore.
Notes On A Conditional Form is The 1975's highly anticipated fourth studio album. Available May 22nd, the 22-track epic includes hit singles "People" and "Me & You Together Song". The band worked to use as little plastic as possible in the manufacturing of the product. Double LP pressed on clear-colored vinyl, housed in a 100% recycled and recyclable sleeve.
Norah Jones’ seventh solo studio album Pick Me Up Off The Floor features collaborators from Brian Blade to Jeff Tweedy, and grew out of her acclaimed singles series of the past 2 years as the songs she hadn’t yet released unexpectedly congealed into an album of tremendous depth and beauty connected by the sly groove of her piano trios, lyrics that confront loss and portend hope, and a mood that leans into darkness before ultimately finding the light.
Recorded in Hull, UK in August of last year, MTV Unplugged showcases Liam Gallagher’s solo career highlights alongside Oasis classics in new arrangements featuring backing choir, a string section and more. The MTV special aired globally in September in celebration of the release of his second solo album WHY ME? WHY NOT and includes the solo hits “Wall of Glass” and “One of Us” as well as Oasis’ global smash single “Champagne Supernova”.
“Music has just been a part of my life since I was very young—it's been like my football or my soccer,” says Sammy Brue. “I stopped going to school to do it. Because I thought, If I could put seven hours a day into music, imagine where it's going to take me…”
Imagine, indeed. Since writing his first song at the age of 11, Brue has released three homespun EPs, his New West full-length debut, I Am Nice and a 2018 EP, Down with Desperation. In the process, the Ogden, Utah native has been hailed as an “Americana prodigy” by Rolling Stone and one of the “teenagers shaping pop” by The New Yorker.
But these myriad accomplishments may have just been the setup for what is arguably his finest work to date, Crash Test Kid. Brue has always been an artist seemingly wise beyond his years, but on Crash Test Kid he often gets at the heart of a matter or melody with just a simple but insightful turn of phrase or cleverly-picked guitar.
Best known as the charismatic lead singer and co-writer of UK band Savages, who received Mercury Prize nominations for both of their now-classic two albums Silence Yourself (2013) and Adore Life (2016), Jehnny Beth's voice, lyrical perspective, and incredible live performances have captivated audiences since the early Aughts. But it's in To Love Is To Live that Jehnny Beth truly steps into - and claims - the spotlight. The album is a sonic tour de force, a dark cinematic meditation on the strange business of being alive. Throughout the record, she explores the deepest reaches of her creative consciousness... wrapped in a whirlwind of sounds. Indeed, in accessing those darkest and least comfortable parts of herself, Jehnny Beth has created a piece of work that is stunningly cathartic, fiercely abrasive, delicately exposed, and rich for discourse.
Rated PG is a collection of Peter Gabriel songs from the movies. Having always loved the combination of film and music (aged 17 he gave up a place at film school to pursue a career in music) Peter Gabriel’s first opportunity to really marry these twin interests came when he was asked to create the music for Alan Parker’s film Birdy in 1985. Further film work, including his music for Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ (that became the album Passion) and the soundtrack to Philip Noyce’s film Rabbit-Proof Fence (released as the album Long Walk Home), has continued to feed that interest. “I have always loved film and any chance I have been offered to work with good film projects and good directors I have jumped at. This is a mixture of songs that have been written for specific films, and existing songs that found an appropriate place in a story. Consequently, there is a mix of different styles and moods.” – Peter Gabriel Alongside those longer soundtrack commissions Peter Gabriel has also regularly contributed songs to a diverse range of movies and Rated PG explores this other connection forged by Peter between his music and film. Rated PG is an opportunity to bring together in one place, for the first time, a selection of songs written especially for, or used to notable effect in, movies and includes new and previously unreleased versions, otherwise unavailable songs and a brand new track. Originally released for Records Store Day in April 2019, where the album was a single LP picture disc in a die-cut sleeve the album is now being released as a CD and standard black vinyl LP. The LP has been half-speed mastered by Matt Colton at Metropolis Mastering and comes as 180g vinyl and a hi-res download code.

Love, Death & Dancing is British artist Jack Garratt’s highly anticipated upcoming new album. The album contains 12 tracks produced by Jack with additional production on several tracks by Jacknife Lee, long-time friend James Flannigan, and Brett Cox. The album compiles all four individual volumes of Love, Death & Dancing and kicks off with the lead single “Time.” Garratt showcased many of the new songs earlier this year at two special underplays in the US before a UK and European tour in February and March 2020. He’ll also appear at Splendour in the Grass in Australia in July.
Do You Turn Red? is both a guidepost pointing toward what may come — such rich mood and color practically begs for transmedia worldbuilding — and a snapshot of this moment. Peter Manos is at the front of his career, full of ideas, and all of them tangibly intimate. Despite joining Capitol in 2019 and relocating from Dallas to the heart of LA, Manos still makes music in a vacuum of sorts. He works almost exclusively solo out of his apartment, in a bedroom turned recording den.
‘Rough and Rowdy Ways’ is Bob Dylan’s first album of original material in 8 years and his first since becoming the only songwriter to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature, in 2016. Its 10 tracks include the three new songs released this spring: the album’s lead-off track, “I Contain Multitudes,” the nearly 17-minute epic “Murder Most Foul” and “False Prophet.”
Born in New York City, 21 year old Maya Hawke is an actress, singer and lyricist. Hawke was most recently seen in the third season of Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” as well as in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and Amanda Kramer’s “Ladyworld.”
Following the release of her independently released A and B side singles in 2019, she returns with a deeply personal full-length album. Hawke, who wrote the lyrics, continued her collaboration with Grammy Award-winning songwriter Jesse Harris, who wrote the music for the album.
On creating the album, Hawke says, “This album happened accidentally… Jesse and I started working together accidentally... we kept writing, kept collecting songs because it brought joy into both of our lives. Collecting them into an album and releasing it comes from a crazy, if not pathological desire to share that joy with others. From my point of view, ‘Blush’ is a collection of secret messages, hidden communications with the people in my life. ‘By Myself’ was a secret message to myself, that I hope I’ll receive someday soon.”
Unlike previous albums, Braids decided to stay close to home for the recording of Shadow Offering. Taking over a spacious sound recording studio tucked in an old warehouse, the band were able to slow down and creatively rediscover themselves. 'With this album, we wanted to give ourselves time to achieve a higher caliber of artistry and collaboration,' Tufts says. No longer riding the novelty of youth, the band deliberately took time to recommit to themselves and their craft, and channel new energy into their music. They wrote 40 songs. They went through their Saturn Returns. They learnt how to support one another better. They drank a lot of La Croix. The band sketched and re-sketched new material for eighteen months before lucky circumstance found Chris Walla (Death Cab For Cutie) renting out space in their studio. The four began wandering into each others' rooms, curious about each others' projects. Typically opting for a private and insular creation process, the friendship between the four saw the band sharing their songs with Walla, and naturally resulted in Walla co-producing and engineering Shadow Offering. Pushing the band out of their comfort zone, he at once broke and unified the band's dynamic, unearthing individual creative energy long buried over the years. With a new sense of confidence, listeners will find Braids at their most personal, unabashedly flexing through their new music. A luscious and expansive release, Shadow Offering leads us through a sonic tapestry of narrative. With heart-breaking honesty and precision, listeners traverse a nuanced and complicated world: one full of beautiful contradiction. Although the album directs itself at the failures of people to love and be loved, it also seeks to restore justice and attain blissful union. Its arc crests through the dark towards the light and learns how to dance with the dizzying rhythms of the heart. The songs bubble, sustain, dissolve, expand, retract.
Sports Team a band of six singular characters who have been variously described as one of the most raucous, electrifying and chaotic acts in the UK release their debut album Deep Down Happy. The highly anticipated record, is their first release on the legendary Island Records label. Sports Team came up on the back of word of mouth live hype, drawing round the block queues to chaotic early gigs at The Five Bells and Moth Club before releasing any music. Recording their first EP (Winter Nets) in a converted Timberyard in Hammersmith, the band have consistently set themselves apart from the acts they came up playing with, showing an intoxicating ambition, and their debut album Deep Down Happy, delivers on all bold claims, and confirm their place at the head of a group of young guitar acts. They've been defined though by an increasingly cultish fanbase spawned from online community pages, making 1000s of memes, pieces of artwork and crucially turning up wherever Sports Team play - from the bands annual Margate trip (where many of the songs were written) to the living room of the group's shared house, first in Harlesden, now Camberwell. Sessions for Deep Down Happy have been snuck in between huge tours at various London studios, including Konk and Livingston, with long-time collaborator Burke Reid (Courtney Barnett, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever) once again at the production desk. Having first worked together on the anthemic Kutcher in 2018, the debut features Reid-produced singles Here It Comes Again, The Races and Fishing while also featuring a re-recording of early single and live favourite Camel Crew - until now, only available on 2018's Winter Nets.
